Job Summary
Join the dynamic multi‑disciplinary melanoma oncology team at The Christie, providing specialist care and management for patients diagnosed with melanoma. The role involves working alongside medical oncology consultants, clinical fellows and advanced practitioners, offering clinical practice, teaching, research participation and support across outpatient and inpatient settings. Candidates should have experience caring for melanoma patients and/or those receiving immunotherapy or targeted therapy, and be motivated to improve patient care, service audit and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive nursing service for melanoma patients, including clinical practice, teaching and research participation.
* Act as a resource for the multidisciplinary team and as a point of contact for patients, carers and the wider MDT.
* Deliver specialist nursing expertise, advice and emotional support to patients and carers from diagnosis onwards.
* Develop and deliver holistic needs assessments and recovery packages to enable patients to live with and beyond cancer.
* Attend and lead outpatient and telephone clinics, and provide cross‑cover for other nurse specialists.
* Lead on implementation and monitoring of clinical guidelines, and contribute to service development and quality improvement.
* Provide specialist education and training to multidisciplinary team members and ward staff.
* Collect and analyse quantitative and qualitative data to support audit, research and evidence‑based practice.
Contract Details
Band 7 – Fixed term, part‑time contracted at £47,810 to £54,710 per annum (pro‑rata).
Essential Qualifications
* Registered General Nurse (RGN)
* Degree in Nursing/Health related subject or equivalent experience
* Post‑registration qualification in Oncology
* Non‑Medical Prescribing (NMP) qualification
* Evidence of leadership, teaching and mentoring
Desirable Qualifications
* Qualification in teaching and assessing
* Masters Degree
* Counseling Certificate
* Palliative Care Certificate
* Nurse non‑medical prescribing
Essential Experience
* Post‑registration senior nursing experience
* Broad clinical experience in melanoma or related area and SACT
* Experience in service development and implementation of change
