The role
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Electro-Mechanical Assembly Technician to build and test a range of precision, tight-tolerance electro-mechanical assemblies and laboratory instruments. The role involves working to detailed engineering drawings and manufacturing processes to ensure high-quality output, delivered right first time.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble complex electro-mechanical units (up to 150 components per build) in line with engineering drawings and build instructions
- Work across multiple product lines, demonstrating flexibility to switch between different assemblies
- Handle small, delicate components with accuracy and care
- Interpret engineering drawings, with a clear understanding of tolerances and critical dimensions
- Test and inspect completed assemblies to ensure quality standards are consistently met
- Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions
- Maintain high attention to detail, ensuring excellent workmanship at all times
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying ways to increase efficiency and productivity
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an engineering, instrumentation, or assembly environment
- Ability to work with small components requiring a high level of dexterity
- Strong understanding of health and safety practices, including risk assessments
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools (e.g. micrometers, digital callipers)
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
- Experience in fault finding and troubleshooting
Desirable
- A-Level (or equivalent) in Maths, Physics, or an Engineering-related subject
- Recognised technical qualification (e.g. City & Guilds or equivalent)
- Knowledge of 5S or lean working practices
Working Hours & Benefits
- Monday to Thursday: 07:00 – 15:30
- Friday: 07:00 – 12:00
- Flexible start option available (from 06:00)
