The role

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Electro-Mechanical Assembly Technician to build and test a range of precision, tight-tolerance electro-mechanical assemblies and laboratory instruments. The role involves working to detailed engineering drawings and manufacturing processes to ensure high-quality output, delivered right first time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble complex electro-mechanical units (up to 150 components per build) in line with engineering drawings and build instructions 
  • Work across multiple product lines, demonstrating flexibility to switch between different assemblies 
  • Handle small, delicate components with accuracy and care
  • Interpret engineering drawings, with a clear understanding of tolerances and critical dimensions 
  • Test and inspect completed assemblies to ensure quality standards are consistently met 
  • Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions 
  • Maintain high attention to detail, ensuring excellent workmanship at all times
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying ways to increase efficiency and productivity

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an engineering, instrumentation, or assembly environment
  • Ability to work with small components requiring a high level of dexterity 
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices, including risk assessments 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings 
  • Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools (e.g. micrometers, digital callipers) 
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
  • Experience in fault finding and troubleshooting

Desirable

  • A-Level (or equivalent) in Maths, Physics, or an Engineering-related subject 
  • Recognised technical qualification (e.g. City & Guilds or equivalent) 
  • Knowledge of 5S or lean working practices 

Working Hours & Benefits

  • Monday to Thursday: 07:00 – 15:30
  • Friday: 07:00 – 12:00
  • Flexible start option available (from 06:00) 
  • 20 days annual leave plus bank holiday
