The Senior Buyer will be responsible for strategically sourcing the highest-quality components and services for their designated project or department, ensuring the best balance of cost, quality, and delivery performance. This role will play a pivotal part in maintaining strong supplier relationships with suppliers, optimising procurement processes, and supporting the successful delivery of key business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
* Maintain a supplier base acceptable for the automotive industry and to establish project/department procurement as designated.
* Develop and implement procurement commodity strategies that effectively use the resources available to form part of the overall department and company strategies.
* Support department colleagues as and when necessary.
* Source and procure components/services.
* Assist in further development of existing suppliers.
* Assess potential suppliers both technically and commercially.
* Provide support to assess and report on new technology/services and applications.
* Assist with proposal costings, as required.
* Provide a role model for Buyers and Associate Buyers.
* Ensure all activities undertaken are in line with current policies and procedures.
* Assist in day to day running of the Purchasing Department and all activities associated with it.
* Undertake cost down activities as directed by the Commodity or Purchasing Manager.
* Assess existing suppliers with the aim to optimise the supplier base.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Knowledge of manufacturing technologies.
* Proven experience in negotiating.
* Experience in manufacturing of fast-moving consumer goods and general engineering.
* Clear and effective communication skills with internal and external clients.
* Good understanding of supply chain procedures.
* Proficiency in cross functional, cross company, and cross-sectional processes.
* Works well under pressure and has a passion for delivering objectives.
* Computer literate – Microsoft office suite and previous experience with an ERP system would be
* beneficial.
* Resourceful attitude with flexible and proactive approach.
* Proven track record for project management.
* Organised, persuasive, resourceful, ambitious, self-directing, passion for delivering objectives,
* comfortable challenging existing processes.
* Clear and effective communication skills with internal and external clients
* Must be a team player.
