We have a new exciting opportunity for a Transport Manager to lead our logistics teams at our site in Preston. The role holder will play a critical part in ensuring the efficient, safe, and legally compliant operation of the company’s transport activities for our Preston location, as well as leading a team of nine people.
Key Responsibilities
1. Regulatory Compliance:
o Ensuring that all vehicles within the company’s fleet adhere to UK transport regulations, including health and safety laws, environmental policies, and other legal requirements.
o Keeping up to date with regulatory changes and implementing necessary updates within fleet operations.
2. Fleet Management:
o Overseeing maintenance, servicing, and repair of all vehicles to ensure safety and efficiency.
o Managing vehicle inspections and maintaining current certifications and MOTs.
3. Driver Management:
o Recruiting, training, and supervising drivers to ensure safe and professional operation of vehicles.
o Ensuring driver compliance with company policies and road safety regulations, including working hours and rest periods.
4. Operational Efficiency:
o Developing strategies to optimize delivery schedules, reduce costs, and improve service efficiency.
o Managing route planning to ensure timely deliveries and collections, minimizing fuel consumption and vehicle wear.
5. Health and Safety:
o Ensuring all transportation activities prioritize health and safety.
o Investigating incidents involving company vehicles and taking corrective actions.
6. Reporting and Budgeting:
o Monitoring and reporting on transport department performance, costs, and compliance.
o Managing the transport budget to ensure cost-efficiency without compromising safety or service.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
* Experience as a Transport Manager with a CPC qualification.
* Full UK driving license.
* Experience in route planning and cost control.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
