We are looking for a talented and motivated Software Engineer to develop, maintain and enhance development tooling, and manufacturing test and tuning equipment that support the production of our world‑leading precision gas analysers.

About the Opportunity:
1. Design and implement robust, resilient, and maintainable software for manufacturing rigs and development tooling.
2. Develop accurate and efficient implementations of complex mathematical algorithms.
3. Create and run unit tests to maximise coverage and ensure software quality.
4. Contribute to Test, Support, and Development infrastructure improvements.
5. Translate customer needs into clear system, architectural, mathematical, and software requirements.
6. Participate in design reviews and provide constructive technical feedback.
7. Convert detailed requirements into reliable software using modern toolchains and best practices.
8. Drive innovation and continuous improvement while adhering to quality and technical standards.
9. Provide accurate work estimates and support planning and prioritisation.
10. Take ownership of assigned tasks, communicate progress, and resolve issues proactively.
11. Contribute to the full product lifecycle from requirements through release.
12. Support other activities as needed to help the team succeed.
About your Talent:
13. Strong experience with Python and JavaScript, with an interest in developing these skills further.
14. Experience with physical or hardware‑based products - such as manufacturing, instrumentation, or other critical systems.
15. Knowledge of data management and data visualisation tools, and motivation to continue learning in this area.
16. Experience contributing to requirements specification and system‑level architecture design.
17. Comfortable using open‑source software tools and libraries, with curiosity to explore new ones.
18. Hands‑on exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, task management and version control systems.
19. Understanding of (Web) UI/UX principles and ability to contribute to front-end development.
20. Solid understanding of mathematical or numerical analysis techniques.
21. Interest in science and enthusiasm for working with cutting‑edge sensor technologies.
22. Working knowledge of electronic circuits and components would be of great interest.
23. Familiarity with code analysis tools.
Desirable skills and experience:
24. Appreciation of signal processing techniques.
25. Awareness of how machine learning can be integrated into scientific or engineering workflows and systems to improve accuracy, efficiency or automation.
26. Experience using GenAI assisted coding and tools.

Location: Crowborough, East Sussex, UK
Hybrid Working: Initially, the successful candidate will be required onsite Monday to Thursday. After the initial settling in period, a hybrid working pattern can be adopted, with a minimum of three days per week onsite.
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent, 38 hours per week.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday (flexible start and finish times)
Salary – £60,000 - £75,000
