Overview
An experienced oncology nurse to join our Community Oncology Nurse Specialist Team providing exceptional support and bringing care closer to home for cancer patients living in Poole, Bournemouth and North Dorset.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as an autonomous practitioner, independently managing own caseload and making critical clinical decisions.
* Plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate a high‑quality specialist cancer nursing service within the community and across primary and secondary care interface.
* Serve as an independent, non‑medical prescriber, taking history, assessing, diagnosing, prescribing and monitoring management plans, including SACT administration.
* Deliver specialist advice, training and education to community HCPs, patients and carers.
* Initiate, administer, evaluate and develop specialist community‑based cancer treatments.
* Formulate, monitor and evaluate evidence‑based standards and policies relating to cancer care.
* Work in partnership with other health care professionals, service users and agencies to develop primary‑care aspects of national agendas and local community needs.
* Provide educational training and mentorship to the generalist workforce in line with Trust requirements.
* Disseminate information locally and nationally and represent the Trust at Cancer Alliance meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experienced oncology nurse.
* Portfolio of professional development and patient care experience.
* Non‑medical prescriber (studied at master’s level or willing to undertake qualification).
* Competency in SACT administration.
* Excellent clinical and advanced communication skills.
Working Hours & Location
This is a part‑time post (22.5 hours). Service hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm. Location: Poole, Bournemouth and North Dorset.
