As we scale, we're looking for a skilled SQL Database Administrator (DBA) | .NET Web Developer to help maintain and optimise our mission-critical systems.
As a SQL Database Administrator (DBA) | .NET Web Developer, you will play a dual role in supporting the performance, integrity, and security of our SQL Server databases, while also working alongside developers on our .NET-based platforms. You'll be critical to ensuring data reliability and performance in systems that clinicians and patients rely on every day.
Hybrid / Remote / York Head Office minimum 2-days per week (UK-based)
Salary Range: £46,049-£59,966 depending on experience
Full-Time 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday) *
*Some out of hours /weekend work may be required
Responsibilities
* Manage, monitor, and maintain SQL Server databases across multiple environments (development, staging, production).
* Collaborate with .NET developers to optimise application/database integration and performance.
* Design and implement database structures, stored procedures, functions, and triggers to support product features.
* Perform regular backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures.
* Monitor database health and tune for performance and scalability.
* Ensure data integrity, availability, and compliance with healthcare standards and regulations (e.g. NHS Data Security & Protection Toolkit, DCB0129, GDPR).
* Support deployment processes, release pipelines, and data migrations.
* Assist with troubleshooting and resolving complex application and data issues.
* The above list of responsibilities is not exhaustive and is subject to change. The post holder may be required to undertake other duties agreed with the Line Manager.
Qualifications
* At least 5 years strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
* At least 5 years experience with healthcare IT systems, NHS environments, or digital health products.
* Proven knowledge of T-SQL, performance tuning, and query optimisation.
* Experience working with .NET applications (C#, ASP.NET, Entity Framework).
* Solid understanding of data security and governance in a healthcare context.
* Experience with backup, recovery, and high availability strategies (e.g., log shipping, replication, Always On).
* Familiarity with DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and scripting (PowerShell, Azure DevOps desirable).
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Desirable
* Knowledge of on prem and cloud platforms (Azure or AWS), especially in relation to SQL services.
* Familiarity with HL7/FHIR data standards.
