Job summary

We are actively seeking a locum consultant breast oncoplastic surgeon to join a dynamic team at the Primrose Breast Care Centre which is part of an expanding university teaching hospital in Britain's Ocean City. This is an opportunity to live and work in one of the most attractive parts of England. There is easy access to both coasts of Devon and Cornwall with beautiful beaches and we are in close proximity to Dartmoor National Park, the Tamar Valley and South Hams. Good transport links exist to London and the rest of the country with an international airport situated close by in Exeter that serves most of Europe. There are excellent local schools.

They will be employed by University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHPT) which is closely associated with Plymouth University Peninsula School of Medicine and Dentistry (PUPMED). The successful candidate will be based in the Primrose Breast Care Centre where there are numerous teaching and growing research opportunities.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Care:

* To Deliver specialist outpatient care for patients referred to the Breast unit;
* Provide leadership as a clinical expert for the MDT
* Support research in the department; Deputise for absent colleagues
* Work within the clinical governance framework of the service and participation in quality improvement of services
* Agree a job plan with the Service Line Clinical Director
* Have an annual appraisal and participate in CPD and revalidation
* Participate in annualised leave rota

Training/ Education:

* Involved in formulating and delivering relevant training programmes
* Assist in training and support of junior doctors and trainees
* Actively take part in departmental teachingo Oversee and support student/junior staff projects

Management

* Support development of the service, identify and facilitate quality improvements
* Find sustainable solutions to challenge
* Provide medical information for the development of systems appropriate for Trust/service needs
* Participate in departmental staff meetings? Liaise with lead nurses and medical colleagues
* Attend and deliver regional and national meetings as necessary
* Undertake all work following Trust procedures and operating policies.

Teamwork

* Embody and promote the ethos of integrated team working
* Communicate with respect and professionalism with all members of the multi-disciplinary team
