The Elevator Pitch

We think Cunning Plan is a great place to work, with some lovely people, but we also know that if you're as good as we hope, you'll have options.

So the pitch…

"We're looking for a Part Time Account Manager, that wants flexible working (could be School hours) without sacrificing their role as a vital part of an organisation.

You'll work on a variety of accounts and projects to keep it interesting, but without being spread too thin that you never feel you are doing as good a job as you want. You'll be working for an agency that strives to Outwit Ordinary and achieve the best for its clients. You'll earn a good starting wage but get rewarded for ALL extra money you bring into the business – you are genuinely a part of the company and should be rewarded that way."

Read on for all the detail that you'll need to understand…

What Will You Be Doing?

We believe these are normally referred to as 'roles & responsibilities', but we prefer plain English.

* You will be the account lead. If you hadn't worked that out or are not happy with that, stop reading. You are the person that the client expects to have the answers and to provide the updates
* Talking, a lot. To clients, to suppliers, to the rest of the team. If your preference is sending a few emails and attending a quarterly meeting with someone more senior taking the lead, then this is not the job for you
* Building relationships is vital, we want to have a great relationship with clients, we instil trust and create a real partnership. Basically, we want to work with client we'd like to go for a drink with after the meeting
* You should be growing accounts. We want you to keep clients happy AND grow the accounts. We don't do work that the client doesn't want, we genuinely like our clients, so we only propose work that is beneficial to them and profitable for us – you will be key to that
* Talking of profit - you'll have responsibility for account profitability. You balance the resources needed to deliver the service for the price the client pays
* Your clients will want to understand success and what we are delivering. This means regular reporting on both performance of our work and updates on what is happening
* To deliver on some projects, you will need to find new external suppliers and then manage them within the project. We have a good selection to choose from already but at times you'll need to go and find alternatives or people in new areas

What Should You Be Good At?

This is the skills and responsibilities section. What do we expect you to bring to the table.

* The role involves checking a lot of 'stuff'. So naturally we expect you to have meticulous attention to detail
* Obvious, but we have to say it – good communication skills. That's not just writing emails or sending WhatsApp, it means talking to clients, suppliers, and other third parties
* You'll be a confident person that builds relationships and isn't afraid of the word 'networking'
* You won't accept the first 'no' you get. You'll push back at the right times and make sure you get the best result – that might be with clients, that might be with the management team
* Money is a subject you are happy to talk about. You'll need the ability to negotiate – can you say 'no' without annoying the client too much?
* As a rule, we have happy clients and build great relationships but as with any agency, sometimes the client isn't happy and needs to be managed – this should not scare you off
* We always say organised, but what does that mean? Well, you will be managing multiple clients across different projects. You'll need to manage internal and external resources to deliver the services. You'll be able to do this using the tools given to you, by recommending ones you like and all without needing to ask for someone else to plan things for you. You are the one in control. If you look at others and wonder why they flap so much, you are our kind of person
* Life isn't simple and sometimes the answer isn't obvious. As a business, we are always trying to push ourselves into new areas and sometimes that means we take risks on new things. This means you need to be a happy problem solver, someone comfortable taking the initiative and willing to learn
* An agency is a unique environment. If you've not worked in one before, this isn't the role to learn that on the job – previous agency experience is essential
* Please be flexible. We will try to be flexible as well – promise…
* You will be required to drive to client locations – it's a bit boring to put in a job ad but it's a reality

What Sort of Person Are You?

We are quite picky about the type of people we like to work with, so we thought we'd explain what sort of characters we prefer in the office.

* Care about doing a good job. It might be old-fashioned but we have a company value that says we won't accept the average, we want to go that extra mile and we like working with people that get a buzz from doing a good job
* Remaining calm in a storm is vital, you'll be juggling a lot of things, so you need to be able to take a breath, prioritise and plan to move forward
* Crowd pleaser. Nobody needs an ego hogging up the office, but we want confident people that like to shine and impress others
* Ambitious. We want to grow, to do that, we want people that desire a great career and earn good money. Remember when we said we'd love you to be a director in 3 years, we meant it…

What Sort Of People Are We?

We expect you to be as picky as us, so here's a little about who you'd be working with.

* The owners have run multiple, successful businesses over the last 20 years. In doing so, we have always put the focus on developing the team and having them shine
* As a result, we never micro-manage. We trust our team and give them the freedom to do the job we employed them to do. If you are struggling, don't panic, we are also very approachable
* We work very hard. We believe talent is great but cannot compensate for hard work
* As a company, we love marketing, data, digital, social media and, as a whole, are quite nerdy – in a cool way of course…
* We firmly believe marketing plays a massively important role in company success and we like to prove that to all our clients
* If we don't like the sound of a project or client, we will walk away. Sticking to our values and respecting our team is at the heart of how we've grown all our businesses

What Work Do We Do?

It should matter what work the company does, so let's tell you

* We manage social media for destination-based clients, like shopping centres and hotels
* We create marketing strategies that give businesses a sound footing and actionable insight to grow their audiences
* We build websites sometimes, using expert developers and designers to help us
* We offer additional services to our clients like SEO, event management, website maintenance, conversion rate optimization, and even act as interim marketing directors at times
* We create courses and run workshops. They focus on helping people do a better job of their marketing

Where and When Will You Work

Do we respect the modern concepts of work? Of course we do.

* We have an office and you are welcome to work out of that office 5 days a week if you want
* However, the team generally gets together a couple of days a week in the office and works from home the rest of the time, in between also visiting the clients
* The office is currently based in Altrincham. It might move as we grow, but it will not move too far from that location as it works for everyone as a central location – if you live in north Manchester you might want to consider if you really want that drive a couple of times a week, particularly as half of our clients are further south in Cheshire
* We will work out core hours for you when you arrive. We have clients that expect us to be available at certain times but across the team, we already know how to manage that without all working Some people start at 8 am, some start at 9 am, and some start at different times each day
* You might have to work the occasional Saturday, covering a client event or even visiting them. It's extremely rare but it happens and you have to be ok with that. We ensure you get that time back but if you never want a weekend ever disturbed again, do not click apply below

How To Apply

We mentioned attention to detail, so please follow the steps below carefully to ensure we can consider your application.

* Send us a copy of your CV. Feel free to send us a link to your LinkedIn profile as well, (but not instead of a CV)
* We would like to see a covering letter. Less than a page, more than a paragraph. Tell us why you want the job. Sell yourself
* We want you to ask us questions. Don't save them all for the interview, so add to the cover letter 2 killer questions you'd like the answer to
* At the very bottom of the cover letter, write the words 'OutwitOrdinary' exactly as it's written here – it proves you read to the end of the advert and care about attention to detail
