Telefónica Tech is seeking a skilled and reliable Level 2 Network Switch Installer to support a critical refresh of the access layer network across a large NHS customer. This is a high-profile project where you’ll play a key role in upgrading core clinical infrastructure, helping to ensure secure, reliable connectivity for frontline healthcare professionals.
This contract offers the opportunity to work on a large-scale, complex refresh programme with the backing of an established Microsoft and IT services partner. You will gain valuable NHS project experience while working in a professional and safety-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Install and replace Layer 2 network switches across designated hospital wards and departments.
* Label, patch, and test network connections to ensure proper connectivity and performance.
* Follow configuration templates and deployment plans in collaboration with the Network Engineering team.
* Document installation activities including port mappings, device locations, and serial numbers.
* Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnostics to verify switch functionality post-installation.
* Work in accordance with hospital infection control and safety protocols.
* Coordinate with clinical and facilities teams to arrange downtime and access.
* Escalate issues to Level 3 support or Network Engineers where required.
Qualifications
* Hands-on Experience: Proven track record installing and configuring Layer 2 switches in enterprise or healthcare environments.
* Hardware Familiarity: Experience with Cisco, Aruba, or similar network hardware.
* Technical Knowledge:
o Understanding of VLANs, trunking, and port security.
o Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and patch schedules.
* Soft Skills:
o Strong documentation and communication abilities.
o Comfort working in clinical areas with sensitivity to patient privacy and safety.
* Compliance Awareness: Familiarity with hospital infection control and safety protocols.
Additional Information
* On-site work required across multiple hospital locations.
* Will involve evening or weekend shifts to minimise impact on clinical services.
* PPE and training provided for working in sensitive or sterile environments.
* Must have the right to live and work in the UK.
