We are now recruiting for a Financial Controller to join our team at our Head Office in Frome.
Aim of the Role
To oversee the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective financial planning, strong internal controls, and full compliance with regulatory requirements. The role provides strategic financial insight to support the CEO and senior leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce accurate monthly and annual financial reports and ensure full statutory and regulatory compliance.
* Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision making.
* Manage cashflow, working capital, and banking relationships to maintain strong financial stability.
* Maintain effective internal controls, oversee audits, and ensure robust financial governance.
* Oversee financial systems and processes, ensuring data accuracy and continuous improvement.
* Lead and develop the finance team, promoting high performance and cross‑department collaboration.
* Work closely with the CEO on strategic planning, investment appraisal, and long‑term financial strategy.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
* Fully qualified accountant: ACCA, CIMA, or ACA.
* Strong post‑qualification experience in a senior finance role (e.g., Finance Manager, Senior Management Accountant, or Financial Controller).
* Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management.
* Demonstrable experience implementing and maintaining internal controls.
* Strong understanding of UK accounting standards and statutory compliance.
Desirable:
* AAT Level 4 (particularly where combined with part‑qualified ACCA/CIMA or substantial experience).
* Experience within an SME or owner‑managed business environment.
* Experience with financial systems implementation or optimisation.
* Strong Excel and financial modelling capability.
