Advanced Dietetic Assistant (Obesity)
Here at GSTT we have multiple weight management services (Tier 2 and Tier 3) that we run across our local south east London boroughs Southwark, Lambeth, Lewisham, Bromley and Bexley. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time fixed-term post until Oct 2026 for an ambitious person to join our Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust Up!Up! Tier 2 weight management service tailored specifically to black African and black Caribbean communities in Lewisham.
Responsibilities
* Deliver nutrition education and behaviour change interventions to people from diverse backgrounds, including those from Black communities.
* Deliver exercise sessions (training will be provided) and use virtual platforms confidently for remote delivery.
* Assist with collection of outcome data from the service and liaise with GPs as required.
* Facilitate on-site and online group interventions across South East London, including face-to-face sessions at community sites and virtual delivery.
* Support peer communities, respond to queries, and participate in the Trust's clinical governance programme and quality agenda framework for continuing professional development, audit and research activities within this specialist area.
* Work as part of a large, multi-disciplinary team across Tier 2 and Tier 3 services, contributing to a close-knit team environment.
* Active involvement in audit, research and opportunities for project participation as part of the King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Experience delivering behaviour change interventions to people from diverse backgrounds, including those from Black communities.
* Confidence in using virtual platforms for delivering interventions.
* Developed understanding of weight bias and stigma in healthcare and everyday life.
* Advanced-level dietetic assistant post with motivation, confidence and autonomy.
Working Arrangements
You will work on site each day from our Healthy Living team office in St. Thomas Hospital (Westminster). You will deliver online interventions and face-to-face groups across South East London, including Sommerville Community Centre (SE14 5JN) and St Laurence Community Centre (SE6 2TS). Standard hours are Mon-Fri with 3 days 09:00–17:00 and 2 days 11:30–19:30, plus every other Saturday 09:00–12:00. Twice per quarter, Saturday will include an afternoon reunion session finishing at 15:30.
As part of the role, you will actively be involved in the Trust\'s clinical governance and CPD, and you will contribute to audit and research activities within this specialist area.
About the Team and Organisation
We are the largest Dietetics Department in the UK, employing over 150 dietitians, dietetic assistants, psychologists, nutrition nurses, administrators, pathway coordinators, project managers and operational leads. We actively encourage and support learning and development, with an active health and wellbeing team and a working group focusing on sustainability. As part of the King\'s Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre, we promote audit and research and there will be opportunities to be involved with projects.
