Offer description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented postdoctoral researcher to join the OATML research group to work on a Generative AI research project. The postholder will be supervised by the PI Prof Yarin Gal. The postholder will work in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford, based in the Wolfson Building, Parks Road, Oxford.

The postholder is expected to conduct the original research while developing the fundamental methodologies and tools in the context of real-world Generative AI challenges.

As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will lead and contribute to projects aimed at developing principled and practical methods which could be used in real systems. This research requires coping with challenges such as intractable probabilistic inference and robustness. The project will involve both theoretical work as well as empirical analysis on challenging tasks.

In addition to research, this role will also assist in providing day-to-day supervision for DPhil students and research assistants, as well as support of grant applications and ongoing grant progress reporting.

It is essential that successful candidate would hold a relevant PhD/DPhil or being close to completion in the relevant field together with relevant experience.

Application Process

You will be required to upload a supporting statement and an up-to-date CV as part of your online application.

Your supporting statement must clearly demonstrate how you meet each of the essential selection criteria listed in the job description. Applications that do not include a supporting statement or CV, or fail to address the criteria in sufficient detail, will not be considered.

While we recognise the value of AI tools in assisting with application preparation, submissions that are clearly AI-generated without personalisation or insight will be rejected. It's crucial that your application reflects your own experiences and understanding of the role.

The closing date for applications is noon on 26th June 2025. Interviews are expected to be held in early July.
