You will serve as a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT SUPERVISOR I in the PORTAL CRANES MAINTENANCE BRACH, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

Help


* You will serve as first line Heavy mobile equipment mechanic Supervisor charged with exercising supervision over subordinate workers.

* You will deliver cost, schedule and quality performance to customers.

* You will have technical accountability for quantity and quality of work performed by subordinates.

* You will set example of professional performance.

* You will plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools provided through the (AIM) process for assigned units of work.

* You will maintain accurate records of time expended and progress on assigned jobs.

* Must be a US .

* Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

* You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.

* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

* Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.



Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

* Coordinate work while assuring proper inter-trade and inter-shop coordination.

* Provide on the job training for workers under your leadership, correct improper heavy mobile equipment mechanic work methods.

* Ensure work process and related instructions to the shipyard are being followed.

* Utilize broad knowledge in heavy mobile equipment and system as related to shipyard work.

* Overhaul, rebuild, repair heavy mobile equipment as related to the shipyard, or naval vessels.
