Location: Fox Wood School and College, Woolston Learning Village, Woolston and Peace Drive, GreatSankey (from September 2026.)
Contract: Term-time only
Fox Wood School and College is a vibrant and inclusive learning community dedicated to supportingchildren and young people with complex needs. We are seeking a compassionate, proactive, and highlymotivated Pastoral Support Officer to join our dedicated team.
About the Role
As a Pastoral Support Officer, you will play a key role in promoting the emotional wellbeing, safety, andpersonal development of our pupils and students throughout Key Stage 4 and 5. You will work closely withstudents, families, staff, and a range of external professionals to provide targeted support, helping toremove barriers to learning and ensuring every child feels safe, valued, and understood. You will – fromSeptember 2026 – work across two sites.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide one-to-one and group support for pupils experiencing emotional, social, or behaviouralchallenges.
* Act as a key contact for families, offering guidance and signposting to external services whereappropriate.
* Work collaboratively with external agencies such as social care, health professionals, andeducational psychologists to ensure joined-up support for pupils.
* Attend, and positively contribute, to a range of meetings with parents and external professionals,advocating for our students.
* Support the safeguarding team in maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
* Collaborate with teaching and support staff to develop strategies that promote positive behaviourand engagement.
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to multi-agency meetings when required.

* Experience working with children and young people, ideally in an educational or care setting.
* A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
