We are looking for a new Consultant to join the Team at LTHTR. This will be a permanent full‑time post within the Adult Allergy and Clinical Immunology services and will be based at Royal Preston Hospital, (although applicants who would like a part‑time post will be considered).
The successful candidate must be on the specialist register (Immunology) of the GMC or be eligible to be on the specialist register within six months of the date of the Appointments Advisory Committee. You must have completed the approved Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board (JRCPTB) curriculum in Immunology or demonstrate evidence of equivalence in knowledge, training, and experience of Immunology and the care of patients with allergic and immunological disorders. You must also hold the MRCP (UK) or show evidence of equivalent training and experience.
The successful applicant will be based at the Royal Preston Hospital, but under exceptional circumstances may be expected to undertake sessions across our other Hospital Sites, at Chorley and South Ribble District General Hospital.
Clinical Duties
* Provide clinical service for the investigation and management of patients with disorders of immunity, principally primary and secondary immune deficiency and allergy, and other conditions in which immune dysfunction is implicated.
* Conduct regular outpatient clinics, written and telephone correspondence for GPs and hospital colleagues.
* Advise on management of inpatients under the care of other Consultants on request.
* Supervise specialist nurses working in clinics, and jointly oversee immunoglobulin therapy, subcutaneous immunotherapy, monoclonal antibody therapy and oral/drug provocation tests.
* Liaise with specialist nurses to manage home therapy for immunoglobulin and C1 inhibitor therapies.
* Supervise allergen immunotherapy, oral provocation tests, drug provocation tests, and immunoglobulin replacement therapy.
* Ensure appropriate cover for leave and off‑duty periods.
* Promote high professional standards of clinical care and maintain continuing medical education at least to the requirements of the Royal Colleges.
