An opportunity to join a small, friendly team in the Cardiac Investigations at Whittington Health NHS Trust. The post is for an enthusiastic, motivated and knowledgeable Cardiac Physiologist specializing in Adult and Paediatric echocardiography.
Essential: a degree in cardiac physiology or equivalent qualifications with relevant experience in adult and paediatric echocardiography. BSE or equivalent echo accreditation is highly desirable. Paediatric experience is essential due to weekly paediatric echo list. The post holder may have opportunities for training in pacemaker follow up and will be involved in training junior physiologists and medical staff. The trust is committed to funding CPD.
Responsibilities
* Conduct routine procedures including echocardiography (performing and reporting adult and paediatric echos).
* From time to time, conduct electrocardiography, exercise testing, Holter monitoring (ECG, BP and Event recording).
* Perform and report pacemaker checks.
* Train physiologists and medical staff in all areas of cardiac physiology.
* Support the Paediatric department and provide a paediatric echo list once a week.
* There is scope for training in pacemaker follow-up for the right candidate.
Context and Department
The Cardiac Investigations department is a small busy team of cardiac physiologists providing full non-invasive diagnostic investigations to inpatients and outpatients across the wider community. The department runs 2 adult echo lists per day (including stress echo, contrast and bubble echo) and has 2 portable machines for inpatient lists.
The Clinical and Academic Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Whittington Health has a history of customer service excellence. The department is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team including five Cardiology Consultants, providing a full diagnostic service to the hospital and local GPs.
