About the role:
We are a close-knit team looking for a new member to join the Tewke family as we move towards scaling up the launch of our flagship product later this year. We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to work closely with the frontend and embedded software teams to improve and develop our cloud-based backend infrastructure.
What you will be doing:
- Leading the design, implementation, and deployment of cloud services, APIs, database systems
- Collaborating with Tewke’s frontend and embedded software teams to create a reliable, scalable and secure cloud infrastructure.
- Building and scaling a system which will support millions of customers.
- Launching software products to an international audience.
About you:
You will be looking to work in a fast paced environment, wanting to challenge yourself and push the boundaries in the world of consumer technology and IoT systems.
The ideal candidate will have worked for at least 3 years as a backend software engineer and have experience working with building distributed, event-driven, and scalable systems working with technologies such as Typescript, MongoDB, and RabbitMQ. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with other software engineers across a wide technical stack.
We are looking for someone who can work in our London (Southwark) office at least 3 days a week.
- Education: BEng/MEng in Computer Science (or similar).
- 2 years experience using MongoDB
- 2 years experience using Node.js and Typescript
- Experience working with a low-level language such as C or C++ is desirable
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience deploying production applications to AWS
- Experience writing data analysis programs in Python
- You are comfortable using version control software from providers such as GitHub or GitLab.
- Passion for software development and staying on top of current technologies.
- Comfortable working independently. As a startup this is a must.
- Experience architecting, building, launching and maintaining consumer scale products.
Nice to have:
- Experience integrating into 3rd party APIs
- Experience working with home automation.
