Job Overview
Provide high-quality commercial legal services (engineering and construction) to enable delivery of capital, operational, and infrastructure programmes, particularly relating to AMP8 and company turnaround projects, by:
* Supporting the senior specialist E&C Commercial Solicitor on high-value and complex projects, advising on technically challenging engineering and construction projects, working with project teams and operational functions.
* Advising on legal ramifications and structuring of engineering and construction arrangements, transactions, and contracts involving engineering and/or construction issues.
* Focusing on non-contentious engineering and construction matters related to infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects.
* Providing technical drafting, negotiation, and settlement of construction and engineering contractual documentation, especially NEC4 contracts.
* Engaging with and supporting the Head of Commercial (E&C Contracts Management) and the wider Commercial Team to enhance pre-contract decision-making and proactive commercial management.
About You
* Good knowledge of law, legal research techniques, engineering & construction contract drafting and interpretation.
* Knowledge of public procurement law and practice is desirable but not essential.
* Good legal judgment and appreciation of legal risk.
* Sound legal training with relevant experience in engineering and construction commercial law.
* Previous in-house experience is welcome but not necessary.
* Good IT skills, including electronic document production and assembly.
* Self-starter, able to work proactively and as part of a team across functions.
* Qualified lawyer (Solicitor/Barrister/Chartered Legal Executive) with ideally 4+ years relevant experience.
