Glasgow Tool Library is looking for new trustees to join our board! This is an exciting chance to be part of a growing, community-led movement building a circular economy in Glasgow — helping to make our city fairer, greener, and more sustainable for everyone. We’re a charity that believes in sharing resources, not owning more stuff. Just like a regular library, our members can borrow from a huge range of tools and equipment for homes, gardens, hobbies, and adventures. We also run volunteering opportunities, community events, and workshops on DIY, repair, and practical sustainability skills — all designed to bring people together and build confidence. We’ve got big plans for the future and a bold vision: a Glasgow where everyone can access what they need, not just what they can afford. Join us to help make it happen! About the Role Our Board of Trustees helps guide and support the organisation — making sure we’re well-run, financially sound, and true to our values. Trustees play a key role in shaping our future and supporting our small team to make a big impact. We’re looking for passionate, community-minded people with time and skills to share — especially those based near our home in North Glasgow. We’d love to hear from you if you have experience in: Treasurer: Accounting or financial management skills to help us stay on top of our finances and plan for the future. (Experience with Xero is a bonus!) Secretary: Strong organisation and admin skills to keep our board meetings and records running smoothly. The Scottish third sector: Understanding how charities and community organisations work in Scotland, and how we can collaborate and maximise our impact within that network. Marketing, campaigning, or lobbying: Experience in developing creative campaigns to raise awareness, attract new members, and influence positive change. Fundraising and grant writing: The ability to find and secure funding to help our projects grow and reach more people. Charity governance or organisational management: Knowledge of how to run and manage a voluntary organisation responsibly and effectively.
