About the Role
Project Technician – Full Time (37 hours per week, flexible). 2 x Permanent. Location: Washington. Salary: £26,160 to £32,700 per annum depending on experience. This is an operational role and not suitable for home working.
Responsibilities
* Plan and organise wastewater sampling related projects in accordance with stakeholder and laboratory requirements.
* Coordinate and monitor core NWG sampling programmes, including Trade Effluent sampling and upcoming large-scale capital projects (AMP8).
* Be a key contact for site visits to investigate and resolve sampling-related issues; monitor and maintain accredited quality systems and equipment calibration schedules.
* Support sampling software packages used by the team.
* Assist Sampler Technicians in collecting wastewater and effluent samples across the North East region (e.g., wastewater treatment works, rivers, industrial sites, bathing waters) in line with annual schedules and accreditation standards.
* Provide unsupervised on-site sampling and laboratory analysis to support other NWG teams as required.
* Work in all weather conditions with specialist sampling equipment; undertake office duties to produce accurate reports and documentation using Microsoft applications.
* Participate in a regional 24/7 operation, including weekend and standby rota.
About You / Qualifications
* Full UK driving licence; ability to follow and maintain strict sampling and documentation procedures in line with ISO17025 and MCERTS accreditation standards.
* Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team; good written and verbal communication skills.
* Competent in Microsoft applications (SharePoint, Excel, Word, Outlook); knowledge of Sample Manager is preferable.
* Willingness to train and develop on-the-job and through collaboration.
* Flexibility to adapt to varying workloads; resilience and ability to adjust to changing priorities.
* Base in Washington with regular travel across the Northumbrian Water region; experience in field sampling is welcome.
