Job Summary
The post holder will work with all disciplines in the Generic team to provide psychiatric assessment, consultation, advice, and support. They will collaborate with internal and external agencies within the child's network to ensure the best possible clinical outcomes.
The post holder will be responsible for patients referred to and accepted from the Generic team clinicians. Referrals come from GPs, Paediatricians, Social Care, Education, self-referral and the voluntary sector. It is expected that the consultant will carry Medical oversight and Responsible Clinician duties for approximately 20‑30 young people, most of whom will be care coordinated by other team members. The post holder will also consult widely with other team members and external agencies, attend MDT meetings, initial assessment hubs and monthly consultant psychiatrist meetings.
They will work with consultant colleagues to provide psychiatry duty cover from 9 am‑5 pm for GCAMHS.
Responsibilities
* Provide psychiatric care to CYP in the Generic team at Greenwich CAMHS through evaluation, diagnosis, and use of appropriate treatment plans/strategies.
* Maintain high‑quality notes and adhere to clinical standards on the electronic patient record, RiO.
* Contribute to decisions regarding care plans, discharges, and treatment of patients in accordance with medical standards.
* Consult with the team on psychiatric issues.
* Collaborate with colleagues to ensure delivery of evidence‑based treatment for each young person referred.
* Manage, appraise, and provide professional supervision to junior medical staff as agreed with consultant colleagues and the medical director, following the Trust's personnel policies.
* Ensure junior medical staff operate within the New Deal parameters and are Working Time Directive compliant.
* Undertake administrative duties associated with patient care.
