Job Description
The Role
You will be managing a dedicated team responsible for ensuring that new homes meet or exceed required standards and that residents receive a positive experience throughout the handover and defects resolution period.
The role includes leading the interface with residents post-occupation, ensuring effective defect resolution, customer satisfaction, and the continuous improvement of delivery standards.
You will be attendings site visits to directly assess construction quality, creating and embedding effecting defect management processes and practices and provide expert advice to the delivery team on commercial construction matters.
About You:
We are looking for a construction expert and experience leader who can effectively balance hands on problem solving alongside leading a team to efficiently resolve defects and aftercare issues. You will have an excellent knowledge of regulations and standards.
You will be a natural problem solver and work closely with colleagues to ensure improvements and lessons learnt are incorporated into future development.
As part of the Southwark Construction management team, you will report to the Managing Director and contribute towards the strategic direction of the service and uphold exceptional professional standards.

Like many London boroughs, Southwark Council is experiencing an extreme housing shortage and has over 16,000 households on its housing waiting list. The council took assertive action to tackle the housing crisis locally establishing a dedicated team that has already delivered over 2500 new council homes and is currently set to deliver a further 1000 new homes by May 2026.
To continue our commitment to deliver high quality new homes for residents Southwark Construction is looking for an experienced senior leader to lead construction quality across the programme and create an aftercare service working closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure an excellent service to residents.
Southwark Construction is the councils dedicated, and highly motivated team established to deliver on the Council’s ambitious programme to deliver 11,000 new homes by 2043. Our programme is one of the largest local authority led programmes nationally and our projects are award winning.
Southwark Council is at the forefront of the Council Homes 100 campaign which calls on government to take urgent action to fix the broken council housing system to be able to deliver its housing promises.
