Job Description Depute Principal Educational Psychologist ( 7/14564) Dumfries (Hybrid) Depute/PEP Scale £81,294 A vacancy has arisen for a registered and qualified Depute Principal Educational Psychologist (DPEP) for 35 hours per week within an inclusive, welcoming Educational Psychology Service in beautiful Dumfries and Galloway. We are looking for an individual who is dedicated to improving outcomes for all our children and young people through the application of psychological principles. The DPEP will assist the Principal Educational Psychologist in the management and co-ordination of the Educational Psychology Service as directed by the Head of Education or their representative. They will deputise for the Principal Psychologist as required and take the lead in key areas of Authority and Service development and improvement. The DPEP will be responsible for undertaking work within the terms of the remit of the Educational Psychology Service as prescribed by statutory legislation. The DPEP will have Supervision/Line management responsibilities for a group of educational psychologists and will support their career development by encouraging leadership skills and development of interests, within the context of the Service Improvement Plan aims and objectives. The DPEP will support the Educational Psychology Service in maintaining the culture of self-evaluation/continuous improvement through development and maintenance of council performance management systems. Requirements The DPEP will be required to establish effective, high profile and strong professional working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders both within and out with the Education, Skills, and Community Wellbeing Directorate. In addition, the Depute Principal Educational Psychologist will deliver the core functions directly to schools in line with the model of service delivery. Applicants must be registered as an Educational Psychologist with the HCPC or be in the process of completion of registration. This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
