Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Mentor to support young people in their personal development and educational journey. The ideal candidate will possess a genuine passion for working with children and adolescents, providing guidance, encouragement, and positive role modelling. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young individuals while developing valuable mentoring skills.
Responsibilities
* Build trusting relationships with young people through active listening and empathetic communication
* Provide mentorship and support to help youths overcome personal or academic challenges
* Plan and facilitate engaging activities that promote personal growth, social skills, and self-confidence
* Assist with educational tasks or special education needs as required
* Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to support the holistic development of mentees
* Monitor progress and maintain accurate records of mentee engagement and achievements
* Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive environment at all times
Requirements
* Previous experience in teaching, youth work, or mentoring roles is highly desirable
* Strong understanding of working with children and adolescents, including those with special education needs
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in supporting young people’s development
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
* Relevant qualifications or training in special education or youth work are advantageous
* Must be able to commit to the scheduled hours and adhere to safeguarding policies
