Are you an experienced Inspection Engineer ready to take on a leadership role? Would you like the opportunity to shape a high-performing team in a global manufacturing organisation?
This is a hands-on leadership role at a leading manufacturing site in Lincolnshire, where you'll supervise and support a team of 6–8 inspectors. With a strong reputation for high-precision components and global operations, the business is looking for a confident and skilled Lead Inspector to join the team and shape the department!
What You’ll Be Doing as an Inspection Engineer?
* Leading a small team within the inspection department, reporting directly to the Head of Quality Control.
* Supporting technical discussions with Process and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
* Troubleshooting inspection challenges and advising machine operators on measurement and drawing interpretation.
* Using and programming CMM machines (Mitutoyo – MCosmos; Zeiss – Calypso).
* Interpreting complex engineering drawings with GD&T, using both imperial and metric units.
* Operating manual inspection equipment and understanding machining processes like turning, milling, and grinding.
* Taking a leading role in team development, training, and succession planning.
* Driving the department’s return to a “centre of excellence” for inspection.
What You’ll Need as an Inspection Engineer?
* A strong inspection background with at least 5 years' experience, ideally coming through an apprenticeship, HNC or HND route.
* Proven ability to program and operate CMMs (Mitutoyo essential, Zeiss desirable).
* Deep understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, and metrology principles (including submicron measurement).
* Experience working within precision engineering, ideally aerospace or similar.
* Confident leadership and communication skills with the ability to mentor and train others
Why Join as an Inspection Engineer?
This is more than a supervisory role. It's a chance to shape, lead and grow the department and support the development of more junior members of the team. You’ll work in a high-precision environment with the backing of a global organisation — and the freedom to make the department your own.
You’ll also benefit from:
* 25 days holiday + bank holidays
* Company pension scheme (5% employer contribution)
* Subsidised healthcare and personal accident cover
* Bike to Work scheme, subsidised on-site canteen and free on-site parking
