This job is for a Head of Department for Financial Mis-Selling, a senior leadership role responsible for launching a new legal department.
The role focuses on two specific areas of litigation:
* Business Energy Mis-Selling: Handling cases where energy brokers received secret commissions from suppliers, which inflated client costs.
* Undisclosed Mortgage Commission: Pursuing claims against brokers and lenders for hidden commissions, similar to cases involving mis-sold payment protection insurance (PPI).
The ideal candidate will be a qualified litigator (solicitor or legal executive) with at least 6 years of post-qualification experience in civil litigation, specifically with a background in financial mis-selling or consumer credit.
Key Responsibilities
As the Head of Department, you will:
* Build and Lead the New Department: Establish and manage a new team of lawyers and paralegals.
* Manage Complex Litigation: Oversee all aspects of high-value cases, from developing legal strategy to leading negotiations and handling large-scale group claims.
* Mentor and Supervise: Guide and train junior legal staff, and shape the department's legal precedents and procedures.
* Ensure Compliance: Work with internal teams to maintain robust client onboarding and risk management protocols.
