Overview
General Practitioner role at Candino CA, based in the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) at Colchester Hospital. The UTC is co-located with the Emergency Department. Shift availability is 07:00–00:00, 7 days a week (including weekends and Bank Holidays).
Responsibilities
* Provide same-day care for minor injuries and illnesses in adults and children (birth onward).
* Record full clinical notes using UTC IT systems and complete coding requirements per Trust requirements.
* Deliver safe, timely, and effective treatment, and manage referrals to acute specialties, A&E, or community services when needed.
* Support and lead the multidisciplinary team in clinical decision-making; work with Emergency Department colleagues to enhance patient care.
* Discharge planning: complete discharge letters for UTC patients and provide education on appropriate use of NHS services.
* Prescribe medicines in accordance with UTC formulary and dispense from stock where available.
* Coordinate with Nurse Practitioners, HCAs, GP colleagues, and training Doctors; support triage and care for patients of all ages in the UTC.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Qualified, experienced General Practitioner with the ability to work across Primary and Secondary care, ideally with experience in Emergency Department settings or Urgent Care and in management of illness and injury in adults and children.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment within a multidisciplinary team.
