Job Description
We are recruiting a Sustainability and Environmental Manager to join our well established HSSE team.
Ethypharm is seeking an experienced Sustainability and Environmental Manager, the role holder will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s environmental and sustainability strategies in line with regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 14001, UK Environmental Permitting Regulations, and Net Zero commitments). This role will lead initiatives to reduce the organisation’s environmental impact, ensure legal compliance, and support corporate social responsibility goals.
Day-to-day responsibilities
* Develop and lead the organisation’s sustainability and environmental strategy aligned with corporate objectives and Net Zero targets.
* Set measurable goals to reduce carbon footprint, energy use, water consumption, and waste generation.
* Ensure full compliance with applicable environmental legislation (e.g. Environmental Protection Act 1990, Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005, etc.).
* Maintain the site Environmental Management System (EMS) and ensure continued ISO 14001 certification.
* Monitor Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions and report progress towards Net Zero goals.
* Support departments in embedding sustainability into day-to-day operations and procurement.
* Act as the sustainability lead and subject matter expert across the organisation.
* Engage with suppliers, contractors, and customers to drive sustainable practices across the supply chain.
Skills/Experience
* Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
* NEBOSH Certificate
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in environmental management or sustainability roles
* Experience implementing and managing an Environmental Management System (EMS) aligned with ISO 14001
* Postgraduate qualification (e.g. MSc in Sustainability, Environmental Management, or similar)
* Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) or Full/Practitioner membership of IEMA (MIEMA/PIEMA)

You’re a driven and knowledgeable sustainability professional with a strong understanding of environmental legislation, best practices, and carbon reduction strategies. With excellent communication skills and a proactive approach, you’re confident leading initiatives, influencing stakeholders, and driving continuous improvement in sustainability performance across the organisation.
This role is on site and will be based at our Romford site.
