Interim Senior Commissioning Officer
Based in London, hybrid working & Inside IR35
Length: 3 months
We’re seeking an interim Senior Commissioning Officer to join one of our London Councils and play a key role in delivering positive outcomes for residents across the council. This role is central to ensuring that commissioning activities are delivered collaboratively with our partners, communities and stakeholders to create meaningful social value.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Commissioning Officer:
* Lead and support co-production approaches to commissioning, working with residents, Councillors, businesses and partners to deliver impactful outcomes
* Gather, interpret, and analyse data and evidence, including needs assessments and cost-benefit/return-on-investment analysis to inform decision-making
* Drive the co-design and development of service delivery options, working collaboratively with communities and partners to address complex policy challenges
* Support the development and delivery of policies, strategies and implementation plans, ensuring commissioning activity aligns with strategic priorities and is delivered within agreed timescales
* Build and strengthen provider capacity, helping to develop a diverse and sustainable pool of organisations capable of delivering services and community outcomes
* Co-design service specifications and support contract and provider relationship management, ensuring delivery of high-quality services and maximising social value
Skills, Experience and Knowledge required of the Senior Commissioning Officer:
* Strong knowledge and experience of commissioning and the commissioning cycle
* Experience in budget management, project management and partnership working
* Excellent analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insight into action
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with communities, partners, and senior leaders
* A collaborative and creative approach to problem-solving and service design
