Roles and Responsibilities
The Electrical Engineer will deliver EICA design content for water industry projects within our Water Design Team based in Durham or Warrington. We operate a hybrid working model, requiring in-person collaboration approximately 2 days per week at our Brighouse office. Projects include water and sewage works design, from feasibility to detailed construction designs.
This role involves surveying, reporting on existing installations, and designing solutions for pumping stations, treatment works, and other water infrastructure components. The engineer will produce design packages for handover to construction teams, including schedules, diagrams, specifications, and reports.
Responsibilities
* Develop effective concept design solutions aligned with project briefs.
* Perform comprehensive design work across all functions.
* Implement innovative, value-for-money design solutions.
* Maintain high technical standards and process projects through all design phases.
* Liaise with clients and communicate their requirements effectively.
* Prepare and review engineering designs, calculations, and drawings.
* Prepare contract documents, cost estimates, and technical reports.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation, including CDM regulations.
* Supervise team members and coordinate with site construction teams.
* Maintain strong client relationships and assist in project administration, planning, and reporting.
* Conduct inspections, feasibility studies, and cost estimations.
* Support bid preparation and service delivery on other contracts.
Role Specific Responsibilities
* Lead project engineer, managing significant design elements independently.
* Work within multidisciplinary teams for information analysis and reporting.
* Conduct site surveys and produce User Requirement Specifications based on control philosophies.
* Review supplier design specifications against URS requirements.
* Use engineering software such as Amtech, Re-lux, and AutoCAD (advantageous but not essential).
The Individual
* Strong knowledge of BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
* Ability to produce electrical and instrumentation design drawings and specifications.
* Familiarity with Amtech software for cable calculations.
* Good understanding of sewage and water treatment processes.
* Knowledge of LV power distribution, motor control, instrumentation, and motors related to water industry.
* Practical skills for site surveys and engineering solutions.
* Ability to think creatively and provide innovative solutions.
* Experience in hazard risk assessments and pre-construction information.
* Ability to estimate project hours and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Effective communicator and team player, capable of managing projects from start to finish.
* Valid driving license required.
