Functional Skills Tutor - Campsfield Immigration Removal Centre
Campsfield House is due to open soon as the UK's first all-electric Immigration Removal Centre, providing custody services, welfare, regime, and recreational activities. We are looking for respectful, diligent, and caring colleagues to join our team.
Job objectives and responsibilities
* Actively promote and design educational activities that deliver Employability Skills, vocational courses, and business start-up courses, including online learning and assessment processes.
* Meet the needs of residents and adhere to contractual requirements while enabling them to earn external qualifications.
* Conduct workshops focused on your areas of expertise, ensuring they address residents' needs and fulfill contractual obligations.
* Provide a safe, secure, stimulating, supportive, and productive environment that encourages learning and skill development.
Main duties
* Promote employability and vocational skills courses, including Maths and English, and explain their relevance as part of the Preparation for Release programme.
* Assess learners' ESOL and skills levels, making adaptations to overcome barriers to learning.
* Develop and deliver core modular courses and advanced teaching modules, supporting learners to achieve their objectives.
* Deliver the OCN Vocational Skills programme, maintaining standards of delivery and quality assurance.
* Provide an engaging induction to residents, encouraging participation.
* Work proactively with staff and residents to support cultural events and develop workshops and activities that help residents gain transferable skills.
* Create and maintain a positive learning environment, monitoring attendance, retention, and achievement, and implementing improvements.
* Complete all required documentation and administration accurately and in line with policies.
* Use resources effectively to ensure quality and value for money.
* Manage the learning environment, ensuring maintenance and security of tools and equipment.
* Advise on necessary equipment and purchases to meet contractual requirements.
* Support Regimes & Activities and undertake additional duties to ensure service continuity.
Person Specification
Essential
* An appropriate teaching qualification and experience.
* In-depth knowledge of vocational skills in your area of expertise.
* Previous teaching experience in a related subject.
Desirable
* Experience delivering creative skills workshops/training.
* Experience within a custodial setting.
* Experience working with ESOL learners, with a patient and understanding approach.

You must be eligible for CTC clearance, hold a valid British or EU passport with a share code, have lived and worked in the UK for at least 3 years without extended overseas trips, and have no criminal convictions or ongoing police investigations.
