Commercial Manager Fire Safety As our company grows and develops, we are ever expanding our teams. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented professional to drive the commercial strategy and operations of the Fire Safety Practice business, ensuring profitability, sustainability, and growth. This role involves directing business development, bid management, contract negotiations, client relationship management, and financial planning to maximise revenue and margin. This person will unify the approach to multi-disciplinary and framework bids, lead the bidding process and ensure a good quality and compliant submission. The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to): Provide leadership and mentorship to the Operations Team Be the direct report for the Operations Manager & Technical Team Leaders (Fire Risk Assessment) (Compartmentation & Fire Doors) Develop and implement commercial strategies in line with company goals and objectives Identify market opportunities and lead strategic initiatives to secure new business in the fire safety sector Direct and oversee bids and tenders from inception to completion Lead in the preparation and negotiation of contracts, ensuring compliance and risk management Monitor and analyse performance metrics to inform commercial decisions and report to the Technical & Operations Director Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders Lead cross-functional teams including finance, sales, marketing, and operations Assist in the development of budgets, forecasts, and strategic reports to support business planning and decision-making Ensure projects and sales align with profitability targets and company standards Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to stay ahead of market developments in fire safety consulting To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate: Qualifications & Experience: Fire safety and construction-related experience required (including consultancy, engineering, QS, bids, project management, commercial) Proven management experience (typically 7 years) in a commercial, sales, or financial role Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, and contract law Excellent negotiation, leadership, and communication skills Proficient in MS Office and business management software (e.g., CRM, ERP) Analytical mindset with strategic problem-solving skills Skills: Advanced commercial acumen and business strategy development Leadership and team management capabilities Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment Strong problem-solving abilities and productive mindset Excellent time management and delegation skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) About Structural Engineering SOCOTEC UK Ltd Fire Division is a leading fire consultancy providing fire risk assessments, compartmentation and integrity surveys, fire safety training, fire door surveys and fire safety advice to some of the UK s largest property portfolios.
