Position Summary
An rare opportunity has arisen to work as a Band 6 Occupational Therapist with the Rheumatology Occupational Therapy team as part of a 9‑month fixed‑term position to cover maternity leave. You will join a team of Rheumatology Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Support Workers who enjoy working together to support and treat patients with a range of Rheumatic diseases. The team works in a dedicated Therapies Centre near the Rheumatology team colleagues, providing treatment for patients across the four local Integrated Care Systems (ICS) and those referred nationally.
The role offers a very varied mix of patient‑facing and administrative tasks. Therapy sessions are delivered in person, by telephone, virtually and in group settings. You will also support the award‑winning residential Bath Axial Spondyloarthritis Rehabilitation Programme and one of the few dedicated Fibromyalgia Self‑Management group programmes in the region.
Responsibilities
• Hold a mixed Rheumatology outpatient caseload, including inflammatory and non‑inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue disorders and fibromyalgia.
• Support the Axial Spondyloarthropathy residential group programme and deliver group‑based outpatient programmes as clinical skills develop.
• Provide patient‑facing therapy sessions and necessary administrative duties.
• Participate in ongoing learning and personal development, taking advantage of both in‑house and external training opportunities.
• Complete a full Trust and local induction and support new staff when they start in the role.
Working Hours & Location
The team works 5 days a week, usually Monday to Friday; however the role may require occasional weekend or Bank Holiday working. The position is based at the Royal United Hospitals Bath (RUH) within the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases.
