Department: Drivers Location: Potters Bar Job Summary Drive Company cars or vans to a schedule, carrying bus drivers from the bus garage to the bus route terminus or driver changeover points. Fixed-term positions up to 6 months. Applications are welcome from those seeking to work flexibly or part-time. Main responsibilities Sign-on for duty in normal way i.e. swipe on; Collect duty documents relevant to shift; Check relevant notices to keep informed of diversions, route alterations; Locate appropriate vehicle; Ensure vehicle is checked for defects at the beginning and end of your shift and any defects found are reported in accordance with procedure; Keep a daily record and check oil, fuel and fluids; Record mileage at the start of every shift and after every trip thereafter; Ferry authorised passengers to and from garage to terminus or change over points; Responsible for ensuring the vehicle is clean internally and externally and carry out cleaning if required; Responsible for fuelling or charging the vehicle using Company resources or payment cards; Adhere to all legal requirements whilst driving a vehicle i.e. wearing seatbelts, observe parking restrictions, speed restrictions etc.; Collect all drivers from relevant trips according to instructions provided; Ensure that only authorised passengers are collected and dropped off; Ensure that alcohol and food (hot and cold) is not to be consumed in the vehicle and it is the driver's responsibility to ensure passengers are aware of this; If an authorised passenger does not arrive to be collected then this must be reported to supervisor immediately; The vehicle must be kept secure at all times and the keys must be returned at the end of the shift as instructed; Vehicle must not be used for social/personal use or must not be taken home without the prior permission of the Engineering Director. Carry out any other reasonable duties as instructed by a supervisor when ferry driver duties are unavailable. This may include, but not limited to, assisting with the run-out ramp checks etc. Essential criteria for application Must hold a manual driving licence (category B). Hours of work Up to 38 hours spread over 5 days out of 7, but options for flexible and part-time working may be available.
