Corporate Information Governance Manager

Hours: 37 hours per week

Do you have experience of leading Information Governance and Records Management, either within a Local Government environment or a large, complex organisation?

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Corporate Information Governance Manager to join our team. You will take ownership of Solihull Council’s approach Information Governance including records management, data governance and compliance, ensuring data security and best practice across our information lifecycle.

You will:


* Lead on all matters relating to Information Governance legislation and standards including the Data Protection Act 2018 and Freedom of Information Act
* Support employees and Elected Members’ understanding and ensure legal compliance by developing detailed policies, procedures and guidance
o Act as the Council’s point of contact for the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)
o Provide advice and guidance to members of the public relating to their rights of access to information and managing subject access requests.
o Investigate any incidents in relation to information security and recommending appropriate action.
o Keep up to date with legislation, case law and rulings to allow sound legal advice, guidance and training on Information Governance matters.


You will line manage the Infomation Governance Team, including the Corporate Records Manager.

You will have

* An industry recognised Information Governance qualification such as an ISEB/BCS Foundation/ Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection or other equivalent qualification
* Experience of delivering Information Governance and Records Management, either within a Local Government environment or a large, complex organisation.
* Experience in leading and managing a team
* Extensive experience of interpreting and applying a large range of Information Governance legislation, complex case law and legal rulings and precedents relating to Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations.
