We are looking for motivated people who are passionate about providing outstanding care quality for adults with learning disabilities. We specialise in supporting adults with complex needs, profound and multiple learning disabilities, and behaviours that challenge. Hawthorn House is a residential care home service, for up to twelve Adults with a learning disability. We have 3x positions available: 1x 30hrs and 2x 20hrs. You can learn about our services via our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/staffordshirelearningdisability You will be expected to work flexibly across the week according to business need, undertaking a range of shifts that may include weekend, and bank holiday working. This role is a waking night role, where you are expected to remain awake and alert on duty. Rotas are subject to change depending on business need. Although this role is based primarily at Hawthorn House in Lichfield there may be times when you are expected to work flexibly across Provider Services, including different care settings, delivery approaches, and locations, as required. Main Responsibilities You will: Deliver excellent person-centred support in an innovative, flexible, responsive, and strengths-based manner Act as a Link Worker for the people we support by contributing to the on-going assessment, development, delivery, and review of person-centred support plans. Oversee medication administration and support with personal care Deliver the manual handling requirements including use of equipment, physical intervention skills, and active participation in person-centred activities Manage a team of Support Facilitators and as the most senior person on duty and responsible for resolving problems and ensuring the smooth running of the shift. Be responsible for the creation and management of rotas. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for people who are passionate about providing outstanding care quality for adults with learning disabilities. Our aspirations are to receive an ‘outstanding’ rating with the CQC, and we are looking for someone who shares our values, ambitions, and vision. What you will bring: NVQ Level 2 in a relevant discipline(s) At least two years’ experience in a direct support role through either work or life experience. Experience of working in a team Experience of administrating medication A basic understanding of the legislative and regulatory framework affecting vulnerable adults, including The Care Act (2014) Safeguarding, Liberty Protection Safeguards, Mental Capacity Act, and the regulatory requirements of the CQC Knowledge of risk management and positive risk taking Be enthusiastic about working with people with learning disabilities and autism Be caring, sensitive and patient while supporting people to be as independent as possible. ICT skills to complete digital record keeping Physically able to assist with personal care and support needs, which will include moving and handling, the ability to support people who use a wheelchair in the community, and the ability to support behavioural needs. Ability to manage and support staff, whilst actively engaged in care and support activities. Sound judgement and the ability to resolve day-to-day problems, emergencies, and issues without access to more senior staff. Interviews will be held: Thursday 4 December 2025. Please note that this role will require an enhanced DBS check and a pre-employment health assessment as part of the onboarding process. This role is regulated by CQC, and it is a requirement that we obtain FULL employment history, from leaving secondary school.
