Role: Field Service Engineer (Transformers)
Location: Onsite at various locations
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000
Main Duties:
* Attending sites across UK to lead transformer installations / relocations of transformers (11kV – 400kV), in adherence to procedures and customer specification.
* Attending sites across UK to lead general substation works such as cable containment, HV & LV cabling, earthing & general asset replacement works.
* Be responsible for a small team of field engineers working on sites all over the UK, being the responsible Engineer for the complete project.
* Be responsible & communicate with subcontractors to ensure smooth completion of projects.
* Reading, understanding, and interpreting electrical and/or mechanical drawings in order to complete the above works.
* Complete general electrical and/or mechanical wiring / fitting works.
* Carry out basic transformer testing such as insulation resistance, winding ratio, winding resistance, functionality of protection instruments, etc…
* Carry out any reasonable ad-hoc duties requested by your direct Line Manager or the Management Team.
* Complete daily safety documents such as Daily Risk Assessment’s, Toolbox Talks, etc…
* Complete daily progress reports as well as complex job completion report’s for issuing to customer.
* Always work in compliance with the Company’s health and safety policy and authorised risk assessments
* Communications with all parties ensuring they are kept up to date during the progression of each project.
Qualifications/Skills:
* GCSEs High school or equivalent.
* Electrical / Mechanical Apprenticeship – as a minimum requirement.
* HNC in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering – preferred.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure.
* Excellent communication and be able to lead colleagues during site works.
* Computer literacy with MS Office applications and other relevant proprietary software packages.
* Transformer knowledge.
* Site based experience.
* Experience in Health & Safety and conducting risk assessments are essential.
* Full driving licence
* Site based qualification such as Safety Passport, PASMA, IPAF and more.
* DNO Authorisations (Can be trained – But must be willing to learn)
