A Local Authority in Herefordshire are looking for a skilled Housing Options Officer to support its busy Housing Solutions service.
This position involves frontline work to prevent homelessness, assess statutory duties, and help households move from temporary accommodation into stable long‑term housing.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out homelessness assessments, triage appointments, and detailed Part VII interviews
Prepare and issue legally compliant Section 184 decisions under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
Create and regularly review Personalised Housing Plans, ensuring timely case progression
Identify affordable private rented sector options and negotiate successful placements with landlords
Work collaboratively with teams including Allocations, Temporary Accommodation, and Prevention
Maintain accurate case recordsContract & Working Arrangement
£30-£32 per hour (umbrella)
Flexible hybrid working - only 2 days required in the office
Candidates must be able to travel to the Herefordshire offices

Recent experience handling homelessness cases within a Local Authority setting
Strong working knowledge of the HRA 2017, Housing Act 1996 Part VII, and statutory homelessness functions
Ability to manage a demanding and varied caseload with minimal supervision
