Software Engineer (Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days home, Bournemouth, UK)\nSalary: £50k to £65k\nC#/.NET Programming Experience Required\nWe are seeking a passionate Software Engineer to join our client's dynamic R&D team. This role will be pivotal in designing, implementing, and maintaining software platforms for some of the most advanced products in the scientific field.\nWhy You’ll Want To Join\n * Work within a collaborative Agile team alongside Software Engineers, QA Engineers, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters.\n * Collaborate with firmware and hardware engineers on new product development and system enhancements.\n * Develop motion and imaging profiles while supporting triage of reported issues for legacy systems.\n * Tackle high-speed hardware-software integration issues requiring strong problem-solving skills.\n * Join a team that values clear, effective collaboration across multiple technical disciplines.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\n * Developing device control systems supporting imaging, movement, and measurement components.\n * Implementing new motion and imaging profiles for existing systems.\n * Owning triage of reported issues in legacy systems\n * Working as a key software interface with firmware and hardware teams.\n * Expanding unit testing coverage and improving software stability.\n * Troubleshooting bugs and refactoring code to reduce technical debt.\n * Participating in Agile planning and feature breakdown with cross-functional teams.\n * Documenting technical work clearly and concisely for internal use.\nWhat We’re Looking For\n * Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related scientific field.\n * Experience in device control systems (e.g., axis control, imaging, dispensing).\n * C#/.NET development experience in Visual Studio.\n * Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles.\n * Familiarity with serial communication protocols (RS232, RS485, USB, GigE).\n * Experience with .NET-compatible testing frameworks (e.g., NUnit).\n * Working knowledge of Git and Agile development environments.\n * Clear oral and written communication skills across disciplines.\n * Strong problem-solving mindset and collaborative working approach.\nIf you’re ready to bring your engineering skills to an exciting R&D setting focused on robotics and smart hardware systems, I’d love to hear from you.
