About the Role
This is a permanent role based at our Edinburgh or Burnley Office.
The Head of Business IT and PMO reports to the IT Director and leads the business applications function, with IFS Cloud as the core ERP transformation programme. The role ensures stable application operations while running the governance and delivery cadence for the change portfolio, from demand intake to release. It is accountable for end-to-end process and data integrity across integrated systems, and for driving coherence and standardisation through clear standards and release governance. The role leads a team of five and key partners to manage vendors and SLAs, remove workarounds, and improve performance across the business.
Major Responsibilities
Lead and develop the Business IT and Projects team.
Own the business applications estate, with IFS Cloud as the core ERP platform.
Ensure stable application operations, including incident, problem, and change practices.
Run demand intake and prioritisation with business owners across functions and regions.
Own the change portfolio for business applications and ERP, from pipeline through delivery and benefits tracking.
Prepare investment cases, track approvals, and report portfolio status through the investment governance forum.
Track portfolio budget and benefits, recommending funding and priority decisions through governance.
Ensure end-to-end process consistency and data integrity across integrated systems.
Drive standardisation and remove local workarounds, partnering with business owners to improve performance.
Govern releases and cutovers, including testing readiness, security readiness and sign-off, data readiness, and BAU handover.
Ensure all changes are assessed, evidenced, and taken through CAB for approval.
Manage application vendors, contracts, performance, and SLAs.
Maintain clear documentation and knowledge transfer for users and support teams.
Lead adoption for delivered change, including communication, training, and readiness actions.

Job Specific Education Required
Essential:
Degree in business, information systems, engineering, or similar discipline, or equivalent experience.
Proven experience leading a business applications function with ERP at the core in a global, multi-entity environment.
Desirable:
ITIL Foundation.
PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent delivery qualification.
Formal change management training or certification (for example Prosci or equivalent).
Work Experience Required
Essential:
Team leadership within a business applications, ERP, or business systems function.
Leadership of a business applications portfolio with ERP at the core, including application lifecycle ownership.
Ownership of application support, release management, vendor performance, and SLAs.
Management of a change portfolio with clear governance, stage gates, RAID management, and benefits tracking.
Experience working with Finance, HR, Supply Chain, and Projects in a multi-region operating model.
Establishment of strong business partnering coverage, acting as the primary point of contact for demand, prioritisation, and stakeholder alignment.
Delivery of change management and adoption for new processes and systems, including communications and training readiness.
Management of integrations and data integrity across multiple applications and end-to-end processes.
Preparation of investment cases and reporting through investment and steering governance forums.

Requirement to travel:
