What you’ll be doing As an Optometrist at Boots you’ll play a key role in delivering brilliant patient care using the latest technology, working alongside experienced colleagues, and supporting your community with clinical excellence. Key responsibilities
* Leading clinics and delivering outstanding patient care
* Using the latest testing technology to assess eye health and provide expert advice
* Providing enhanced services, from triage support to advanced assessments, depending on store needs
* Offering clinical support to colleagues on the shop floor
* Collaborating with external healthcare professionals
* Keeping your clinical knowledge up to date and sharing it with others
* Playing a key role in your store’s leadership team, bringing energy and insight to every shift
What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)
* We’re looking for Optometrists who are confident, compassionate, and always focused on doing the right thing for patients.
* GOC registered (or expecting to be within 6 months)
* NHS performer number (or working towards it)
* Excellent communication and organisation skills
* A genuine interest in patient care and team collaboration
It would be great if you also have
* Experience supporting enhanced services
* A strong understanding of local clinical networks

Need To Know
We’re looking for an Optometrist to join our Kendal store, with flexible hours available between 22.5 and 37.5 hours per week.
The role offers flexibility, with the opportunity to cover across both Kendal and Lancaster stores.
The practice is a busy, well‑established store located in the town centre of Kendal, within a Boots UK store with Hearing Care, in the heart of the Lake District.
The store has 2 testing rooms with 25‑minute testing times and a supportive team environment.
You’ll be joining a team of 8 colleagues, including 1 resident Optometrist and 1 Dispensing Optician, working alongside an experienced team.
Newly qualified Optometrists will be considered, with opportunities to develop additional skills while working in practice.
The role will include working at least one weekend day, with store opening hours Monday to Saturday 9:00–17:00 and Sunday 10:00–16:00.
The store is easily accessible with good train links and access to the M6 motorway, and low‑cost parking is available nearby (£1.50 for the day when parking before 9am), just a short walk from the store.
Location: Kendal, UK (10 Elephant Yard, LA9 4NG)
Hours per week: 22.5 – 37.5 hours (flexible)
