To start as soon as possible. Position: Teacher of Biology – interview date set for Tuesday 7 October 2025. East Lothian Council seeks to appoint a dynamic and forward-thinking individual for the position of Teacher of Biology at Rosehill High School on the Wallyford Learning Campus. Our school opened in August 2023 and currently has around 600 pupils in S1–S5, with further expansion anticipated.
Our new secondary learning facility is designed to support creative approaches to pedagogy, with adaptive teaching spaces, digitally enabled classrooms, a STEAM plaza, a Learning Resource Centre, extensive arts facilities, and a state-of-the-art sport and leisure complex. Learning and teaching on the campus incorporate outdoor learning and learning for sustainability, and the campus includes community spaces to support collaboration among professionals and sectors.
Role: Teaching relevant subject through S1–S6. The duties of teachers, promoted and unpromoted, are to perform tasks as the Head Teacher directs, with reasonable regard to overall workload.

This role sits within the Faculty of Science and Technology, the largest in the school.
Job Details
Teaching the relevant subject across S1–S6. Duties will include planning, preparation and correction; developing the school curriculum; assessing, recording and reporting on pupil work; preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with administration; providing advice and guidance to pupils; promoting and safeguarding health, welfare and safety; working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals; undertaking appropriate continuing professional development; contributing to school planning and raising achievement; and contributing to the wider needs of the school. Relevant Qualifications
Registered with GTCS as a teacher of the relevant subject. Permanent posts require GTCS Full registration (General). Temporary posts require GTCS Full registration (General) or Provisional registration.

Pay Arrangements
Starting after the first day of the school session: Salary and leave/pay are recalculated in line with the SNCT. Further information will be provided if applicable.
