This is a temporary role for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join the supportive team at Gateway Recovery Centre in Widnes. You will help people with complex mental health needs to develop new skills and build a brighter future. The role involves facilitating a flexible programme of OT groups and individual interventions, planning and implementing therapeutic activities, and evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans.
Responsibilities
* Work alongside the Occupational Therapy team and manage a designated caseload.
* Complete assessments, plan therapeutic sessions, implement interventions and evaluate outcomes aligned to service users’ care plans.
* Facilitate OT groups and individual interventions, and plan and implement therapeutic activities.
* Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants.
* Collaborate with a regional network of healthcare professionals and engage in training to support career development.
Qualifications
* Current HPC registration and full BOAT membership with documented Continuing Professional Development.
* Knowledge and use of a range of OT assessments and outcome measures.
* Experience of working within a similar setting.
* BSc (Hons) or equivalent occupational therapy qualification.
* Minimum of 1 year post‑qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist.
Location and Setting
Location: Bennett’s Lane, Widnes, Warrington, WA8 0GT. You will be working at the Gateway Recovery Centre, a state‑of‑the‑art facility which provides care for men and women with complex mental health requirements.
The hospital is split into four distinct areas:
* Male Autism Service for the challenging and complex needs of adults with Autism and Asperger’s syndrome.
* Assessment and rehabilitation for women with complex mental health needs and personality difficulties.
* Specialist inpatient service for older men with complex mental health and physical health needs.
* Low secure care setting for men with a mental illness with or without personality disorder/mild LD.
