The Booking and Scheduling department manages Outpatient and Inpatient appointments across The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, taking approximately 1000 calls from patients per day. The post holder will work within the busy Booking and Scheduling Department based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital or William Farr House. The team provides a booking service for Outpatients across main sites.
Based in a busy call centre environment, the department is responsible for managing the bookings of outpatient appointments and procedures. You will be working closely with managers and staff at all levels to help develop and maintain a high quality Patient Access Service. You will be responsible for booking patients and taking/making outgoing calls. The team is supported by Team Leaders and two Office Managers. You will have opportunities for learning and development.
Responsibilities
* Book patients and manage bookings for outpatient and related appointments
* Take and make outgoing calls
* Support waiting list management and clinic rescheduling
* Respond to inquiries from colleagues and patients
* Collaborate with managers and staff to maintain a high quality Patient Access Service
Qualifications
* GCSEs grade 4 or above in English Language and Maths or equivalent
* Good supporting education
* Customer Service or Business Administration NVQ desirable; training available within role
* Experience in administration or booking/appointment handling preferred but training provided
* Experience with Microsoft Office; understanding of data protection and confidentiality
* Excellent organisational and communication skills; flexibility and time management; ability to work as part of a team

Based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital or William Farr House; Booking and Scheduling department handles outpatient and inpatient appointments across the Trust.

About the role
The successful applicant will be a strong team player, highly organised with the ability to manage their own workload and support colleagues. The department manages around 1000 calls per day. The team are a large, supportive group of over 40 staff.
