We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pediatric Nurse to join our team for Lewisham Hospital, London. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
Duties
* Conduct thorough assessments of children's health and developmental needs, creating tailored care plans.
* Administer medications, treatments, and vaccinations safely, monitoring children for side effects or complications.
* Provide emotional support and reassurance to children and their families during treatment and hospital stays.
* Collaborate with doctors, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic paediatric care.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in line with legal, ethical, and safeguarding standards.
* Educate parents and carers on children's health conditions, treatment plans, nutrition, and preventive care.
Skills
* Strong patient care skills, demonstrating empathy and sensitivity towards children and their families.
* Sound knowledge of child development and paediatric health conditions, enabling effective assessment and intervention.
* Excellent communication skills, adapting language and approach to suit children of different ages and their carers.
* Ability to remain calm, reassuring, and professional when caring for distressed or anxious children.
* Strong organisational skills to manage multiple patients and treatments within a busy paediatric environment.
Requirements
* Current registration with the NMC as a Registered Children's Nurse (RCN)
* Minimum 1 year of paediatric nursing experience within the NHS or a similar healthcare environment (required)
* Strong knowledge of child development, paediatric health conditions, and family-centred care practices
* Excellent communication, clinical, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage children of all ages and their families
* Ability to remain calm, compassionate, and professional in high-pressure or emergency situations
* Must pass an enhanced DBS check and drug screening
