Responsibilities will include:
* Assemble marine sub-systems and support functional testing activities to assist with system validation and sea-readiness.
* Build and test marine propulsion components — including engines, gearboxes, and waterjets — to a high standard, ensuring full readiness for installation.
* Proactively identify, report, and provide input on any defects or issues encountered during vessel construction and system installation.
* Install sub-system components into the vessel in line with marine engineering specifications and design requirements.
* Report defects, material issues, or unclear documentation promptly and through the correct process.
* Accurately interpret and follow detailed work instructions, including those provided via 3D models and digital platforms, in a marine engineering environment.
* Support the full fit-out of vessels, ensuring all equipment and systems are installed accurately, securely, and to specification.
* Rigorously follow safety procedures, work instructions, and project schedules to ensure timely and compliant delivery.
* Consistently produce work to the highest quality standards, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and marine compliance.
* Attend relevant meetings and offer constructive, experience-based feedback to support continuous improvement and build efficiency.
* Travel to and support off-site marine craft testing, trials, or commissioning activities if required, seeing the craft through to commissioning to ensure a smooth handover and operational readiness.
* Aid the operations team with routine and reactive maintenance tasks and provide hands‑on technical assistance as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
* City & Guilds or HND qualification in Boat Building or Marine Engineering (desirable).
* Experience working with diesel and petrol engines.
* Experience with hand tools & various light machines.
* Experience in waterjet and gearbox installation and maintenance.
* Computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Existing right to live and work in the UK and no known bar to obtaining appropriate UK security clearance as required.
Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with UK National security clearance required for certain roles.
