Purpose of the Role
The Tewitfield Marina Site Supervisor is responsible for the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of Tewitfield Marina. This role oversees all operational functions, including housekeeping coordination, maintenance scheduling, guest experience support, health and safety compliance, and team leadership. Acting as the central point between staff, contractors, apartment owners, and guests, the Site Supervisor ensures the complex operates to the highest standards of service, safety, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
* Manage the day-to-day operations across the site, ensuring apartments, communal areas, and facilities are well maintained and guest-ready.
* Supervise the Housekeeping Team Leader and the Administrator(s), including rota management, task allocation, and performance support.
* Oversee housekeeping schedules and liaise with the Housekeeping Team Leader/housekeeping team to ensure efficient turnover between stays.
* Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager to ensure smooth delivery of site services, facilities, and compliance checks.
* Provide cover and support across other operational areas as needed.
Guest & Owner Services
* Support the reservations and administrative teams to ensure a seamless check-in/check-out experience for guests.
* Act as a point of contact for guest issues or feedback, resolving operational concerns promptly and professionally, and escalating complex or strategic issues to senior management.
* Liaise with apartment owners regarding maintenance updates, condition reports, and seasonal preparations.
* Ensure that all visitors receive a high level of service, consistent with the company's values and brand.
Team Leadership & People Management
* Lead, motivate, and support the on-site operational team, including housekeeping, maintenance, and grounds staff, to deliver high standards across all areas of the complex.
* Support recruitment, induction, and development of staff as required.
* Promote a collaborative and supportive working culture across the site team.
* Set clear expectations, delegate tasks effectively, and monitor performance to ensure accountability and consistency.
* Conduct regular team meetings and 1:1s to provide feedback, address concerns, and support staff development.
* Manage staff issues proactively, including conflict resolution, underperformance, and disciplinary matters in line with company policies.
* Ensure all team members are trained, informed, and working in compliance with health and safety regulations and site procedures.
* Create and maintain a positive, respectful working environment where staff feel valued and supported.
Health & Safety Compliance
* Conduct regular site inspections and ensure compliance with all health & safety checks, including fire systems, appliances, and communal spaces.
* Ensure all statutory health and safety records, logs, certificates, and contractor documentation are up to date.
* Maintain compliance with COSHH, fire safety, and manual handling protocols.
Finance & Administration
* Process and submit operational income reports and staff time logs to central finance/human resources
* Track and code operational expenses, including receipts, credit card transactions, and petty cash.
* Maintain accurate administrative records including training logs, maintenance schedules, and compliance documents
* Support planning and budgeting activities, such as redecoration and furniture replacement.
* Provide input to senior management on areas for improvement or efficiency savings.
Person Specification
Essential
* Previous experience in an operational supervisory role (e.g. reception, facilities, leisure, tourism, or hospitality).
* Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
* Experience managing or supervising staff, with the ability to lead and motivate a small team.
* Confident communicator, able to deal with a range of stakeholders including staff, owners, guests, and contractors.
* Practical problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
* Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and evenings where required.
Desirable
* Experience in a marina, holiday park, leisure or hospitality environment.
* Knowledge of health & safety compliance and site operations.
* IT literacy including MS Office and booking/administration systems.
* First aid training or willingness to undertake training.
