An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced ENT band 6 nurse to join our dynamic MDT at the Royal Free Trust but will predominantly work at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals. You will work independently and collaboratively, managing a clinical caseload, lead nurse‑led clinics, and support patients throughout their journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership: Support the management of ENT patients, conduct clinical assessments, plan care, and initiate treatment plans for in‑ and out‑patients.
- Nurse‑Led Clinics: Run autonomous clinics such as micro suction, tracheostomy tube change, wound care, and allergy testing.
- MDT Collaboration: Work closely with ENT Consultants, Speech & Language Therapists, and other MDT members to coordinate patient journeys.
- Patient Education: Act as a key resource for patients and families, providing expert advice, support, and detailed information regarding conditions and treatment plans.
- Service Development: Support clinical audits, drive evidence‑based practice, and contribute to the development of departmental guidelines and policies.
Main Duties of the Job
To support the Clinical Nurse Specialist in the management and delivery of a high‑quality holistic service for patients who require specialist ENT care. The post holder will have sound knowledge and skills in the management of Ear, Nose and Throat conditions, work collaboratively with colleagues in the ENT team and across the Trust, and support the CNS in monitoring standards of care through clinical audit. The post holder is expected to work with minimal close supervision and will be a member of the relevant clinical groups, representing ENT nursing issues accordingly.
Education & Professional Qualifications
- Mentorship/preceptorship or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Working towards a degree or evidence of continuing education.
Experience
- 3 years post‑registration experience.
- Experience of MDT working.
- Experience of working in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Experience of implementing change in a clinical setting.
Skills and Aptitudes
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
- Understanding of quality, clinical risk, clinical governance, national benchmarks, and other professional issues.
- Knowledge of research and audit methodology.
Other Requirements
- Computer literacy.
- Flexible approach to work.
- Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
