You will be responsible and accountable for designing and implementing the group wide strategy for building AI and Digital capabilities for Tesco group, ensuring colleagues have the specialist AI and digital capabilities, expertise and confidence required to innovate, enable efficiencies and adapt to deliver value in a rapidly changing retail landscape. You will lead the design of the end to end AI and digital capability plan for the group focused on ensuring colleagues have the right level of understanding and confidence in using AI and digital to drive a cultural shift and ensure mass adoption of AI. This role goes beyond traditional learning design and incorporates end to end needs analysis as an enterprise level, data analysis (both internally and externally) and best in class design and delivery of learning content that enables behavioural change. You will help shape long-term skill investment, influence senior stakeholders, and ensuring learning delivers measurable business impact. Strategic Capability Leadership: Lead the end-to-end AI and digital learning strategy - defining, scoping and building digital skills across different colleague audiences, aligned to Tesco’s business strategy. Translate both the business and AI strategy into clear plans for building AI and Digital capability and driving mass adoption. Partner with senior business leaders, talent, workforce planning, capacity planning and technology teams to shape content and learning solutions. Anticipate future skills needs and translate them into scalable, sustainable capability solutions for the busines Shape long-term capability roadmaps that balance immediate business demand with future readiness. Act as a trusted advisor, challenging thinking and influencing investment decisions Own the end to end skills framework and learning experience for both colleagues and leaders – AI and digital Stakeholder & SME Partnership Act as a strategic partner to senior business leaders, technical experts and functional heads. Shape learning priorities collaboratively, ensuring strong business ownership and relevance. Enable subject matter experts to contribute effectively to capability building without overreliance on them. Learning Design & Delivery Design and oversee blended, scalable learning solutions (academies, pathways, credentials, on-the-job learning, champion networks and communities of practice) Use external data and insight to inform the solutions, ensuring Tesco is leading the way in building AI and digital capabilities Ensure learning is practical, role relevant and embedded into ways of working—not standalone training. Balance build vs buys decisions, leveraging internal expertise, external partners and digital platforms effectively. Significant experience designing enterprise level capability solutions, not just individual learning interventions. Significant experience in learning, capability or workforce development roles, with exposure to technical or specialist skill domains. Proven ability to design learning strategies aligned to growth priorities. Proven ability to build capability aligned to strategic business priorities. Strong understanding of deploying learning at scale, across wide audiences in a different and meaningful way Exposure to digital, technology, digital customer engagement or other complex technical domains. Ability to engage and gain sign off for large scale learning solutions for a wide range of different audiences (channels vs office, UK vs markets) Experience operating in large matrix organisations.
